Using a combination of strategy, creativity and cooperation, you will create a seaworthy craft that will take you across the water in a race against the other team. In addition to building materials, each team is given its own currency to use to buy extra resources – but how you spend it can be decisive for the outcome.
Raft building is a popular team building activity that challenges participants in communication, problem solving, and collaboration. Here is a step-by-step guide to the activity:
Team division and introduction Participants are divided into two or more teams and given a review of the rules and objectives. Each team is given a starter kit with basic building materials.
The Construction Phase Now it's time to work together. The team must plan, design and build a stable raft with the materials provided. To make the challenge even more exciting, you'll be given a special currency to use to buy extra building parts and reinforcements.
Design and strategy In addition to building a functional raft, you can also focus on making it aesthetically pleasing. Creative and well-thought-out solutions can give you an advantage in the competition.
The competition phase Once the rafts are ready, it's time for the big challenge. The goal is to paddle across the bay and reach the treasure first.
Prizes are awarded in several categories:
Fastest raft – which team will get across the water the fastest?
Most stylish design – creativity and aesthetics are rewarded.
Jumbo prize – to the team that perhaps didn't really stay afloat.
